Our Story
Our story began with a dream—and a historic building full of potential. We poured our hearts into restoring a piece of our community’s history.
Then, just as we were ready to open our doors in early 2020, the world changed.
Opening a new restaurant during a global pandemic wasn’t what we had planned. Like so many small businesses, we faced uncertainty, challenges, and moments where giving up would have been the easier choice. But thanks to the unwavering support of our community, our incredible team, and our loyal guests, we kept moving forward—one meal, one smile, and one day at a time.
Today, we’re proud to say that The Social Goat Tavern and Billy’s Bites & Brews are about so much more than food.
They’re about the conversations shared over burgers and barbecue. They’re about celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and life’s biggest milestones. They’re about welcoming someone in for the very first time and watching them become one of our regulars.
Some of our guests have become more than customers—they’ve become family.
We’ve laughed together, celebrated together, and stood beside one another through life’s highs and lows. We know your favorite table, your usual order, and often your story. Those relationships are what make this place truly special.
Our team is family, too. We believe in creating a workplace where people are valued, encouraged, and supported, because we know that when our team feels at home, our guests do too.
Get to Know the Owners
For the owners of The Goat, Jennifer and Danny, hospitality isn’t just a business—it’s a way of life.
Behind every plate that leaves the kitchen and every warm welcome at the door is a relentless work ethic that has defined their journey from day one. As successful entrepreneurs operating multiple local companies, their days are a non-stop masterclass in balance. If they aren't steering business operations or making sure everything at the restaurant runs seamlessly, you’ll find them right where they love to be most: in the stands, proudly cheering on their twin daughters at the softball field.
Yet, despite the demanding schedules and the hustle of managing growing enterprises, their commitment to the Covington community remains steadfast. What truly sets The Goat apart is its heartbeat. The owners have poured their souls into creating a space where the line between guest and family blurs the moment you walk through the doors. To them, every team member is valued, every regular is known by name, and every newcomer is welcomed like an old friend.
Running a business while raising two high-achieving athletes takes endless energy and passion, but for this family, Covington isn't just where they work—it’s home. The Goat stands as a true reflection of their dedication: grounded in hard work, driven by success, and always centered around family.
Policies

Service Animal Policies
We welcome service animals trained to assist guests with disabilities in accordance with the ADA. For the health, safety, and comfort of all our guests and working animals, service animals must remain under control on a leash or harness at all times and stay on the floor (not on chairs or tables). To maintain our high food safety standards, feeding animals anywhere in the dining area is strictly prohibited during your visit. Emotional support animals and pets are restricted to our outdoor seating areas where permitted by local health regulations.

Reservations & Large Parties
We operate on a first-come, first-served basis and do not take reservations at this time. For large groups (12+), please keep in mind that we may need to seat your group across multiple tables to accommodate you as quickly as possible.
An automatic gratuity of 20% is added to parties of 6 or more.
Looking to guarantee a space for your group? Check out our Private Events page to book a dedicated space!

Food Safety
Your health and dining experience are our highest priorities. Our kitchen follows strict food safety and sanitation standards; however, please be aware that we handle common allergens—including nuts, dairy, gluten, eggs, and shellfish—in our shared kitchen space. If you or anyone in your party has a food allergy or dietary sensitivity, please inform your server before ordering so our culinary team can take extra care. To maintain optimal food safety, quality control, and health compliance, outside food and beverages are not permitted in the restaurant, with the exception of store-bought celebration cakes.
